UP ALL NIGHT calls to her viewers for action. The figure’s skirt swathes her extended leg like flower petals envelop a stamen. With her eyes closed and an unrestrained high kick, the dancer risks knocking down the whole dance hall with her vim and vigor.

The sculpture with swirling pleats and raised limbs is stunningly poised on just her toes. Laura Teste said, “My studio had Beck’s Colors album on heavy rotation, and his upbeat music inspired me to try capture unrestrained enthusiasm.  I wanted to lift the viewer’s eye and spirit with her vorticity.”

Up All Night was selected to welcome audiences to the Arthur Secunda Museum’s 2019 summer exhibit and was also chosen for exposition by L’Association des Peintres et Sculptures, St. Tropez, France in 2019.

UP ALL NIGHT

Eighty hands and feet,
Planting slides, throwing kicks,
Turbo charging beat
Burns this bar made of bricks.

Stained and slick dance boards
Lathered in a dim light,
Pedal to the floor,
We’re ramping up all night.

Flinging salty sweat
From flying hips and hair,
Smoking hot tempos
Send heatwaves through the air.

Hustling in high heels
With a high flaring dress,
Let’s get on the floor
In that hot piping mess.
