LOSE YOURSELF balances a lot of movement on a pair of ballet pointe shoes. The magnificent bohemian skirt deeply pocketed and exuberantly pleated sweeps opposite the dancer’s outstretched arms. The arched contour of the body serves as a dynamic counterbalance highlighting the strength of the figure.  LOSE YOURSELF radiates themes of self-reliance and bliss. Inspiration for this piece arrived from the untitled red skirt series by Ukrainian photographer Vadim Stein. LOSE YOURSELF is a hallmark of the VIM & VIGOR period (2016-2019) with characteristic closed eyes in concentration and elongated proportions.

LOSE YOURSELF was chosen for exposition by the “Whitewater Valley Art Competition” at Indiana University East Gallery in 2022, exhibited at Laura Testé “Vim & Vigor” 2018 solo show hosted by the Arthur Secunda Museum, and selected by Grosse Pointe War Memorial for “The Sun Goes Down” juried show in 2017

Trust yourself and dance for yourself.  The contour of her body serves as dynamic equipoise to the flowing dress.  – She feels the sway of inspiration there; the breath of a silver wind through her hair. The vision inhales, deep bliss without care; Loses herself, a solar flare in the night air.

LOSE YOURSELF

After the sun goes down and twilight swirls
With stars and street lamps, a spray of pearls
It’s a night of delight and enchantment unfurls
A lissome limbed dancer pirouettes and twirls.

She feels the sway of inspiration there
The breath of a silver wind through her hair
The vision inhales, deep bliss without care
Loses herself, a solar flare in the night air
